Truthfully? Absolutely No Idea.
Yes, new theme. Called Lazy Days, no less. I stayed up all night coding it because, well, I’m cool like that. And I was a little sick of my last theme … I thought it about time that I tried my hand at fluid layouts, anyway. There’s a horrible feeling germinating in the pit of my stomach, to do with the fact that I probably have 7647837546 other glitches to iron out in this layout, but for now, it’ll do. Just poke me if you find anything wrong.
I’m still debating about whether I should stick a header between the navigation and the content - just to make things look less minimalistic - or whether I should just type up the blog name in a ridiculously large font, save it in Photoshop and have it as a branding mark … somewhere … come to think of it, where would I put the latter? Hrm. Well, IE 7 completely screws the search form, and there’s this large gap akin to a chasm between the content div and the footer. I shudder to think what it looks like in previous versions of IE.
In reference to the post title, I had no idea what I was doing when I started this at … oh, say, 3 o’clock this morning … and this is what I ended up with. Funny how I envisioned something at least remotely red, and it came out grey and blue. I was this close to retreating to the Themes codex and just sifting endlessly through those until I found something I liked, but then thought against it; I don’t deal well with templates. They give me rashes. On a slight tangent, the site is still very unfinished since I haven’t had an About page in … well, for as long as I can remember. So I’m going to spend the next few hours (read: days) re-constructing everything and writing up new-fangled jazz for the other sections. Meanwhile, the index page is just as minimal and pretty!
In other news, it’s just about three weeks until HSC results are released. You can smell the apprehension in the air! *twitches* Although from some corners it might be excitement, from others it may be a mix of both, and from a select few, it’s probably unexpected flatulence.

In IE 7 this comment typing box stretches waaaaaay out but that is the only problem I see.
As for the layout, I usually don’t like anything this plain….but it works. It may not seem like much but you’ve accomplished a great feat by managing that. *hugs*
Reply: Thanks for the head’s up! Fixed. I hope …

Am definitely not looking forward to HSC results. Although I tend to forget their existence, until people ask me when they’re coming out again. I think I’m just not looking forward to actually having to decide once and for all whether I want to go to USyd or UNSW.
Yay new layout, though. :) It’s very … Spartan? But it’s very pleasant on the eyes.

Aaaahhhh!! I love this layout :D gimme gimme. It’s perfect, clean and easy to read. Plus, fluid FTW :P I think a good texted header should do wonders for this layout, like you said, it would be good for the branding. Great job!
[#] Amanda, on November 27, 2007:
I’d recommend displaying your site title somewhere. :P You know, visitor orientation and all that jazz.
Lovely layout though!
Reply: That does seem to be the general consensus, yes. :P Don’t quite know where, though.
[#] Kaylee, on November 28, 2007:
Oooh, I love it! Sexyyy :D I adore the colours :3
[#] Tracey, on November 28, 2007:
Gah, super simple and clean, exactly the way I like it.
Quick, quick, reconstruct! I want to read your about page and everything!
Don’t freak about your HSC results. It’s done, they’re over and you can’t change them now!

I love the color choice, thought as you said, it IS a bit too minimalistic. I suggest rounded corners (see Adam Kalsey’s tutorial for it), as well as a header with your site title. Something like Sarai’s (chiklita.net) current design.
As for odd hours to create layouts… I have already realized that nothing decent comes out when I work during regular hours on it. :P
Good job!
P.S. The text area is a bit large, it makes me feel bad if I don’t type enough.

I personally like the layout. I think some kind of header would be nice but it looks fine without it as well. Oh, the links up at the top are not working for me. Only the ‘Home’ link is working.
[#] Aisling, on November 30, 2007:
I like it! But I would like your name somewhere, so when I am tired/drunk and come home to read about your lovely adventures, I can remember your name. You don’t want me screaming about someone else do you? That’s what I thought.
[#] Rilla, on December 2, 2007:
LOL that close. :P
I like it more than the last. You look like a brighter person now.
[#] Sean, on December 3, 2007:
I think if you rounded off the corners and added a really simplistic header it’d look awesome. I always end up finding pre-made themes, I’m too lazy to actually great something decent.
[#] Paddy, on December 4, 2007:
I love minimal. But I’m told it’s boring! I like Sean’s idea though, rounded-corners make everything sexier.
[#] Chanel, on December 5, 2007:
ROFL - That “this close!” image is hilarious.
I like the new layout - its very light and smooth, maybe a tad too simple, but it’s a very nice looking simple.
[#] Stephanie, on December 6, 2007:
lazy-itus. don’t worry, I can see loads of people appreciate minimalism for what it stands for lol
this close? *_____*
